NOLA Rising in the news

OK, time to go back to writing about things that aren't just about me again. Well, I guess there is a "me" tangent here, in that Michael "ReX" Dingler, aka the NOLA Rising Guy, is wearing one of my Skull de Lis tshirts in this great video shot by the Defend New Orleans folks, viewable at their new DNO Video site:

DNO VIDEO - Nola Rising from DNO VIDEO on Vimeo.

Isn't that cool? I'm honored ReX is wearing my design whilst spreading love and art around New Orleans. One of these days I'll get off my lazy ass and send down a box of goodies for him to add into the mix.

The other bit of NOLA Rising news is that NOLA Rising is IN the news - Chris Rose wrote a very kind article about ReX and the whole project in the Times-Picayune, which will hopefully help spread the word and help explain what NOLA Rising is all about. Kudos to ReX for sticking with it, despite the hateful harassment by the Grey Ghost. Rock on, brother!

Merry Christmas and Thanks!

I'd just like to take this opportunity to offer a giant "thank you" to all of you who chose to spend your holiday dollars with me this season. I hope my quirky handmade things bring joy to your life or to those who received them as gifts. Merry Christmas everyone, and here's to a peaceful and love-filled New Year!

"Home" shirts a hit at Storyville!

Woohoo! The Storyville Times reports that my "Home" fleur de lis shirts are a big hit both in their brick and mortar store in Baton Rouge as well as online on WearYourStory.com!!! Yay!!! They wrote a sweet apology to me for taking so long to get them up online, but I'm just thrilled they are carrying the shirt and that it's striking a chord with so many people! Home is indeed where the heart is, and though Louisville has definitely won me over in the two and a half years I've been here, NOLA will always be the fleur de lis city that I call "home." I hope the design speaks to folks in both cities.

Indie Delights likes my NOLA Heart Clock!

Indie Delights blog featured my "NOLA Heart" Clock today as Day 16 of their Holiday Gift Guide! Very cool! Thanks to Indie Delights!

If you haven't ever visited that blog, you should check it out - they've got some really funky and interesting items in their Holiday Gift Guide.

More "Home" News!

Big news: my "Home" fleur de lis t-shirt is finally available via WearYourStory.com! The good folks at Storyville have come up with their own exclusive color combination, a light blue print on a cranberry colored t-shirt, which looks awesome!

So add that to your list of options if you're considering ordering a "Home" shirt. I'm currently out of a few sizes of the army green heathered ringer on my website, due to mad sales while I was in New Orleans (yay!), but there's always the dark blue print on light blue t from the Why Louisville Store, too. (Plus they are carrying limited edition hunter green hoodies with bright yellow print on them, only in the store though!) So three different ways for you to get your fleur de lis on!

Back in Kentucky...

Whew! Well I'm finally back in Louisville. What an exhausting but productive and lucrative two weeks I had in New Orleans! Awesome big thanks to everyone who came out to see me and shopped with me and gave me great feedback about my stuff. I didn't exactly sell out of anything, but I sure came back with a lot less stuff crammed in the Kia on the way home.

Though I have been saying that next Monday, December 17th is the last day to order anything from me and expect to have it arrive in time for Christmas, some experiences I had with mail while I was in New Orleans make me question if that will really work. I'll keep that date, in order to have the time to add some of my remaining stock to my Etsy shop and this site, but buyer beware, the US Postal system is not always to be relied upon, so if you do wait until Monday or later to order, I can't guarantee it'll arrive before Christmas. In fact, if you live in New Orleans, I can't guarantee anything - as I recently had a Priority package take 8 days to get to me while I was there.

Anyways, even after Christmas, I'll be continuing to add more stock to this site and my Etsy shop, as I have to get rid of all that excess inventory somehow! And I don't anticipate any markets or shows here in Louisville for a few months. So the internet will be my main means of getting it out there. So check back often and definitely let me know if you have a custom order in mind.

Happy Holidays everyone!

My Recycled CD Holiday Ornament in the Times-Picayune!

Much to my surprise, my recycled CD holiday ornament with the recycle symbol on it was in the Times-Picayune this past Saturday, in the Inside/Out section! (Look in the lower right corner of the page.) Isn't that cool?

I don't know if you can read it or not, but they plugged my website and all the markets I'll be at. And I already got one online order from it! It's very exciting. I've only ever made the paper once before, in Louisville - they printed a picture of my "Ride" bicycle clock, but they mistakenly attributed it to someone else! So that kinda didn't count. This time, all the information is correct, and the layout is really cute.

Even if it doesn't bring any further sales, it's great PR to have and will look great on my new "press" page I'm in the middle of constructing. Now if I can just figure out how to get some of my t-shirts some publicity in this town!

Anyways, I still have lots of ornaments left, so please come by and see me and get yours. They make great decorations year-round, not just at the holidays. I even had a couple buy some one time to make a mobile out of, for their newborn child's nursery! So they are versatile.

One Weekend Down, One To Go...

Things have been going really well so far! Last weekend's Freret Market and Festivus were really good to me, and I'm looking forward to this weekend's roster of parties and markets. Take a look at the schedule and try to make it by to see me, OK? And remember, the longer you wait, the less selection there will be! I'm already almost out of some designs of t-shirts, so don't wait too long!

Dec. 6th - Louisiana Bucket Brigade Holiday Party - 6:30-9:30pm, 126 Walnut Street - 11th floor (the large white condos in between the zoo and the river).

Dec. 7th - Trumpet Magazine Release Party & Neighborhood Partnership Network Housewarming Party. 3500 Canal @ Jeff Davis, 5:30pm-7:30pm. Cookie decorating, door prize, delicious food and drinks, and the New Orleans Craft Mafia selling our wares!

Dec. 8th - Recycle For the Arts Oddities Bazaar @ the Green Project. 2831 Marais St. in the Bywater (corner of Marais and Press Streets, by the railroad tracks), 1-5pm.

Dec. 9th - Festivus - 700 Magazine @ Girod, 12 noon til 4pm. Hand-crafted, fair trade, skilled services and eco-friendly vendors, plus the Office of Homeland Serenity will offer services like free massages, a non-profit giftwrapping station, a re-gifting station, a cookbook swap, roaming flatterers, the Big Easy Rollergirls, and the infamous grievance pole. Live music and food too! THIS IS MY LAST NEW ORLEANS APPEARANCE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

I'll be returning back to Louisville on the 11th. Hopefully I'll be able to turn up some last-minute holiday shopping events to participate in crunch time right before Christmas. (If you know of anything happening in this time period in Louisville, let me know!)
